What are the commands for this modem? Thus far, when I telnet in, I'm unable to get anything to respond other than, when I log in, I get a "$" and any command I entered just results in "not found".
Reason I ask is I'm interested in trying to find detailed line stats---unfortunately, this modem doesn't have info on estimated line length or max line potential---I wouldn't be shocked if these are tracked by the modem, but it's not exposed in the GUI---wondering if I am able to access it via telnet CLI.

30 AUG 2020 8:00AM CDT CTL experiencing global outage
Is CTL experiencing some type of routing issue globally?...suddenly many sites load slow as molasses or not at all. Also affecting Cloudflare?
EDIT: OK...finally was able to bring up this page https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/
one notice elsewhere suggest CTL routing issue to blame? I have no idea.

Trying to get service and being told its not in area when it is
I am wondering if anyone has ever had a similar issue. We live in a newer area and my address as well as a lot of the neighbors wont show up on the Centurylink system. My father in law lives a few houses down and got the service but I can not and other neighbors are having the same issue. I called today and they just said sorry cant do anything. I have a Centurylink box in my front yard for crying out loud!.
I have included a couple screen shots from the CL website, my block is highlighted in yellow. If you have had a similar problem how did you get it resolved?
Thanks!

[Qwest] Gig Service stability
My gig service was installed a few weeks ago, and doesn't want to maintain a solid connection. While it goes up to about 940 down and up, it drops to 0 every few minutes causing me to get messages like No internet. I have a c3000z modem, connected to a 48 port switch. I also have a PC connected directly to the modem-same issues.
I also had 2 greenwave 4000 but both of them had similar issues. No idea why. Any ideas?

Grandfathered Gigabit vs 940 Mpbs service
I've had Gigabit service for many years now since it was initially available. I noticed price reductions are available, spoke with loyalty department and was told that I have grandfathered Gigabit service (speeds up/down to 1000 Mbps) but the new service has speeds to 940 Mbps up/down. My actual speeds typically are around 600/900 Mbps down/up. I'm just wondering whether both services are actually the same and, if not, if I upgrade how much my speeds would be degraded. I was told once I make the switch I can't go back. The price difference is about $20 month.

Gigabit Fiber availability
Hi All,
I live in a townhouse, with quite a few people around me (in my immediate area, at least 30 individuals, in the surrounding area, at least 75-100 people). The price for life for gigabit service looks rather appealing to me, however gigabit isn't available in my area. There are pockets in Aurora, CO where gigabit is available, but it's not available at my address.
I've signed up for a notification through Centurylink's website whenever fiber becomes available, but it's been two years. I check weekly, but sadly no change.
I realize that I'm going to need to go the extra mile or ten in order to really get things moving, but I have no idea where to start. I've called Centurylink, and I've used their chat support, and they are only interested in selling me DSL (I have Comcast and it's rather reliable, and their DSL product doesn't even come close to competing with Comcast cable).
I'm willing to go door to door with sign-up sheets if I have to, because I've had Centurylink fiber at a previous address in Denver, and it was fantastic. Any tips or tricks that I should know about?

[Qwest] C1000A, telnet/ssh console, CFE and firmware downgrades
Hello all,
My old Actiontec gt784 DSL modem was dying so I replaced it with a used Actiontec C1000A. I had a script setup to login via telnet to the 784 twice a day and modify the configuration to enable NAT loopback and extra static IP addresses my ISP provided me. This was in case the modem rebooted due to a power outage or some other issue.
I'm trying to do the same with the C1000A modem and am running into a couple problems. Originally I had the CAC003-31.30L.86firmware on the device so by default telnet was disabled but SSH port was available. I made the mistake of upgrading to CAC004-31.30L.95 and now the SSH port is no longer enabled: the firmware adds drop entries in the iptables input chain for the SSH destination port on both the ATM0 and BR0 interfaces regardless of the firewall settings. The second issue is that the configuration setting to enable the telnet console interface is reset after every reboot. It has to be re-enabled on the web-interface before I can telnet into the modem after a power cycle.
So I have two questions:
1) how can I downgrade the firmware back to CAC003? I tried it through the web-interface, but it errors out saying it doesn't allow downgrading firmware. I found some information on the OpenWRT wiki about the CFE bootloader that appears to be on the C1000A and how to boot it into firmware loading mode. Has anyone tried it?
2) is there anyway to set the configuration on the modem so the telnet console is enabled after a reboot? I could try writing a script to automate the web fields to enable the console, but I'd prefer not to have to.
Thanks for your interest.

Zyxel C1100Z System log: What am I looking at, please?
Except if system log indicates actual signal link down (infrequent), this ethernet activity data does not seem to affect performance in any way that I can tell. So is what I'm looking at normal data in system log for ethernet port up and down...? Modem pretty new, cables brand new. I have no complaints except I don't understand what I'm looking at.

Horrible Experience
So I live in rural MO and the only option is CenturyLink. A couple techs we at the cabinet and said they were hooking someone up. I said my service just went out and the response was "that's weird". They proceed to go to a ped across the street then next to my house. I asked them to take a look because my service was off since they started working. They said they couldn't do anything without a ticket. I understood because I worked for an ISP and were unable to to work without a work order. I got a ticket set up and they left... I have never left a customer without service if I could help it. They are unavailable until Monday. What a joke of a company. Coming from working for Spectrum after 7 years and same day appointments to CenturyLink is insane. They don't seem to be in much hurry to do anything and I wish I could understand it ...

[CenturyTel] CenturyLink Actiontec C3000A for $26.40 (Delivered)
I've watched eBay for longer than a year, hunting for a suitable CenturyLink Actiontec C3000A backup/replacement. Last week, I ran across a smoking deal, took a chance, and jumped on it. It was advertised as "For parts or not working."
It arrived, this afternoon - no cables, no power supply, no nothing - just the bare unit. I figured, for $26.40, if it was "not working" I'd keep it around "for parts."
I took it out of the shipping box and hooked it up to a spare Netgear power supply, that was laying around. Boom! It fired up. So far, so good.
Next, I saved a copy of my (working) C3000A's config file to a USB stick, and used it to restore/clone the (working) config file to my (eBay) C3000A.
Finally, I powered down my LAN, switched out the C3000A boxes, and powered up. Boom! The backup/replacement is performing perfectly.
I'll attach a couple of snaps to this post; one showing the initial power-up test, and the other showing the eBay C3000A replacing my original C3000A.
Matter of fact, I'm using the "For parts or not working" modem/router, as I type :)

[Qwest] Can someone advise on Line stats.
Hi, So I'm in a Qwest area, south of Phoenix, Zip 85138. For the last few months, on and off, I have had short periods of high pings from 150-350, and as such web browsing comes to a slow down. My connection is VDSL2 and I am on the 40/5 plan. I would appreciate if someone can comment on my line stats in the attachments. I want to call in and see if there is anything they can do, like a profile reset or something. I have a C3000z modem on the latest firmware, I tried a C2100t as well that I had as a spare but the issue remains. Thanks
I also wanted to mention that I used to see my SNR at 9 ish but for some reason it synced now at 6.9 to 7.0.
Also, the c2100t synced at the same levels except for loop length which increased to 3048 feet.

Centurylink -> Lumen
https://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/centurylink-rebrands-re-defines-enterprise-sector-as-lumen-technology
Looks like Centurylink is rebranding themselves a "Lumen Technologies", while their fiber to the home sector will be called "Quantum".
Meanwhile, the worst part of the company, in terms of funding/capital investment, (wireline) will remain CenturyLink.

[Qwest] Charges for modem not delivered
Looking on-line, it seems that this kind of crap is pretty common. I come back here hoping to hear of effective strategies to combat the cramming. Here is the deal: In anticipation of getting pair bonded service, I bought a C2000 modem (6/17) on eBay. A couple of months later, I ordered pair bonded service and expressly declined their offer to lease a modem to me and told them what I had and confirmed it was fit for purpose. The service was installed and I hooked my modem up. Everything worked fine and has since September of '17.
Today, in response to a change in my billing amount, I discovered that I've been billed $10/month for a modem that I've never had (C1900). I contacted Customer Support. Not only can I not get a refund, apparently CL expects me to keep paying for this phantom modem in perpetuity.
I didn't want their modem.
I never used their modem.
I never got their modem.
Charges will continue until I return this non-existent modem.
WTF? How do I fight this?

[CenturyTel] New C3000Z Modem "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
Got error message one day after installing new C3000Z modem received with upgraded DSL service 60Mbps. Did not get error messages with previous C1100Z modem on 25Mbps service.
Ran Windows 10 network troubleshooter and it 'reset' the ethernet adapter to clear the error.
After receiving error again a couple of days later: Went into device manager and searched for and installed new driver available for Intel Ethernet I218-V Adapter.
Got error message again a few days later and tried a laundry list of troubleshooting steps listed on the web - now getting error message 1-2x per day and clearing it with troubleshooter.
What am I missing here - could this be a problem with some setting in the modem? Thank you for help/suggestions :)

Technicolor C2100T Modem
I had purchased a C2100T modem and wanted to put the modem in bridge mode, but this modem seems to have a flaw at least in the latest version of the firmware. I was unable to get that modem to operate in transparent bridge mode.
In my area the wan is IPoE, so you have to select transparent bridge and select untagged traffic. When you should select untagged traffic it would then never connect via DSL so my router would not be able to obtain an IP address. In my area Centurylink does not require you to setup PPPOE so there is no configuration change on a router from just the normal DHCP an address.
I had to purchase a different modem (ZyXEL C3000Z) so that I could enable transparent bridge on the WAN and select untagged traffic. I was then able to choose VDSL, my profile, and PTM untagged and it worked flawlessly.
So either Technicolor/Centurylink needs to update the issues with the firmware, or I would not recommend you purchase that modem if you want to use transparent bridge. I tried to communicate this via tech support so it could be documented but Centurylink Tech support kept telling me that I was doing this wrong, or the issues was with my router and would not even document the issue.

Inquiry about technical requirements for Bonded DSL service
I currently have CenturyLink DSL service (10 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up) at my house and get about 7-8 Mbps down and 0.6 Mbps up. With remote schooling for the kids and remote working, we need to upgrade our connection speed. I have inquired with CenturyLink about upgrading to a Bonded DSL service. My neighbor has Bonded DSL and his speed tests put him at roughly 25-30 Mbps down. The CenturyLink Account Representative told me that requests for new Bonded DSL in our area are “frozen”. When I inquired what frozen means, he stated that no upgrades for that service are currently being scheduled. When I inquired as to why it is frozen, he was unable to provide a specific reason, but indicated it could be due to either (1) no technicians available to do the service, (2) the service is not technically available, or (3) that the service upgrade requires “in-home” work, and that is not being scheduled at this time due to Covid-19.
Well I don’t know if technicians are available or not, but I believe the service is technically available since my neighbor’s telco box on the street is just 20 feet from mine. But I am wondering about what “in-home” work is required to upgrade me from a regular DSL connection to a Bonded DSL connection? I have looked at the wiring in the telco box on the street, and at the box mounted on the side of my house, and it looks to me like there is sufficient wiring in them for adding the Bonded DSL service without needing to run new copper lines.
If I can find out what is needed for “in home” work (if it is actually necessary), I can probably get someone locally to take care of that for me (I am a network administrator for a small company, but I don’t do wiring work). I know that I will need to get a new modem that handles the bonded connection. Can someone give me a brief explanation of what wiring changes would be needed, up-to the house, and within the house to upgrade my service from regular DSL to Bonded DSL? Thanks.

C3000A: latest firmware
Can someone verify the latest firmware release for this modem?
I tried to upgrade but my firmware shows to be CAD003-31-165L.9 already on the modem, while CAD002-31-165L.4 tries to download as the latest available, but then it won't install. Also, do updates install automatically, because I know I did not install the CAD003-31-165L.9 version.
Thank you in advance for any help.
