I had 27500/896 Kbps speeds for the past month. Last night I noticed a very slow upload speed while sending an email. Checked my modem and my connection is locked in at 27518/295 Kbps.
Not sure what happened when I was getting 896 Kbps for the past month without problems. Any help on how I can go back to the previous upload speed is much appreciated. Thank you

dsl works for a day or two then errors
I have 80/40, I had 40/20 . Both services worked for a day or two, then large numbers of errors. Had three wide band techs out. I am 1070 feet from box. The techs switch my dsl lines, it is perfect for a day or two and then large number of errors. I have dsl lights going red. sometimes line two dsl would go to 20/5 . I am in sun lakes Az. It is very frustrating for me. I use chat to get help, they check lines and say very bad and dispatch tech.

[Qwest] 120 Mbps Bonded ?
What upload speeds does CL offer with the 120 Mbps DL service? I think it is normally 120/10, but Will they give me 120/20 or 120/40 if my line will support it? Also, would they bump the price if they bump the upload speed?

Updated Minneapolis speed test map
I re-ran the addresses contained in the map in this thread: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29723767-Minneapolis-Centurylink-Speed-map-Including-Fiber-rollout-
(Direct link: http://www.easymapmaker.com/map/6347814ae5d946a2fcc4cd60647ca456)
New map from data gathered last night: http://www.easymapmaker.com/map/cl_speed_1-15-2015
So there are now traces of gig internet in Hopkins and St. Paul (uncheck everything but 1000 at the bottom to see them).
I have a python script that runs the addresses to check their speeds, and I hope to update the map from time to time to see the progression of CL fiber.

Edit 5/11/2016:
Instructions on how to run this yourself using Vagrant, Ansible and VirtualBox:
https://github.com/mtdoyle/CLSpeedPhantomJS/blob/master/README.md
I have included my giant list of addresses that will be downloaded as part of the instructions above.
Let me know if anything doesn't work!
NOTE: running this script with a large amount of addresses takes a LOT of bandwidth. Each run for me eats up somewhere between 20-40Gb of data. If your internet is capped, you might want to only use a smaller subset of addresses.

internet connection slows every afternoon
Here in Glendale AZ, our internet connection has slowed down every afternoon for the past week. (We have 12Mbps download speed, which is the best that is available from CL in our area.) When the speed is slow, I cannot even execute a speed test, as the initial pings time out. The modem status page indicates that we are getting full download bitrate.
I fix the problem by power-cycling the modem, after which all is well. Presumably, a new packet connection is created.
Any idea what is happening?

Setting expectations for CenturyLink FTTN / FTTC / G.fast
I've been driving around my rural hometown of Rice Lake, WI and it seems CenturyLink has been installing new cabinets all over the place. One even went up near my brother's dairy farm, within 150m of his house. He texted me today telling me they're out burying fiber on his road today to this new cabinet.
I did a little googling and it looks like out in rural areas they're using a FTTC/FTTN strategy with G.fast to shorten the length of copper to boost speeds for DSL service (currently at his place he gets an awful ~2Mbps through DSL due to distance from the CO). I know there is a newer subdivision downtown that has CenturyLink FTTH that offers gigabit speeds, and I've been reading that G.fast can theoretically achieve gigabit speeds over short loops, but I'm assuming that the G.fast DSL service won't be comparable to FTTH even for short loops.
Can someone inform me what kind of expectations to set for the folks living near this cabinet who have been asking me? Any ballpark figures for what kind of plans will be possible (I assume it's distance-from-cabinet-dependent)? Will folks living nearer the cabinet be able to get higher speed plans than folks living further away, or does the guy living a mile down the road lock everyone else on the cabinet to the their (lower) speed tier?
Thanks in advance.

Review of stats and errors
What do you all think of the following. One of the lines is near perfect and no errors. the DS1 line stays mostly at max speed but occasionally changes diown to 35mbit's but goes up to where it should be autimatically..
I haven't had any service issues or disconnects from the internet entirely etc. Wouldn't have even know if it wasnt for me on the modem status page.

Cheaper than Zyxel C3000z VDSL2/ADSL2+ modem
I am renting Zyxel C3000z VDSL2/ADSL2+ modem from Centurylink with these specs:
VDSL2 (G.993.2) Bonding - 200Mbps/100Mbps* down/up data rates
- Bonding mode: 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a profiles
- Single line mode: 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a,30a, 35b profiles
- vector (G.993.5) 5 GHz band
- 802.11ac support
- 1.7 Gbps* data rate
- Backward compatible to 802.11a/n
- 4x4 antenna array
VPN (IPSec, PPTP) pass-through • URL blocking
Auto detect for bonding / single line, VDSL2 profile, and ADSL/2/2+ fallback modes
and would like to buy it 3rd party.
Can I get something cheaper? What standards do I have to pay attention to?
How about this one for $66:
TRENDnet AC750 Wireless VDSL2/ADSL2+ Modem Router, 200 Mbps VDSL Downstream Speeds, USB share ports, TEW-816DRM

GPON Vulnerable and Insecure?
I read this on https://pierrekim.github.io/blog/2016-11-01-gpon-ftth-networks-insecurity.html and it says "The security mechanisms already defined are based on the assumption that all the GPON elements will be strongly physically protected. GPON communication are vulnerable to severe security issues, such as:Fake/Forged OLT: currently no OLT identification and authentication mechanisms have been specified, Man In The Middle (MITM) attacks, and Several kinds of DOS (Denial of Service) at GPON level e.g. during the activation phases.". So with this in mind do business and government try to avoid using GPON? :p

140/20 Wired fine, sloooow wifi
Hey all. Took a Gamble and switched from cable 50/10 to a CTL bonded 140/20 plan hoping to save that $30 a month.
Got service installed, and on a C2100T got advertised speeds when wired, but only 10 down/20 up on 2.4ghz wireless and 30/20 on 5ghz. I know CTL won't guarantee any wireless speed so I tried bridging with my Netgear r7000, and oddly got the same speeds. After 2 hours with CTL tech support with base setup they say it's a modem issues and send me a C3000Z, but same result.
I've used wifi analyzer to find best channels and adjust some settings, but haven't seen any real difference. I can't hard wire the house so any recommendations for those that had similar issues would be awesome. Trying to make this work because it's 60 for this plan with price for life or $120 for the 300mgbs plan from Cox. devil vs devil.

Actiontec GT701D stopped working as transparent bridge
It works fine in router mode though, I bought another one and it does the same thing.
When in transparent bridge, the router (ASUS RT-AC88U) says 'timeout waiting for PADO packets', and my other router with DD-WRT said something similar.
so I figured the problem was on Centurylink's side, but they said no everything looked fine
anyone have an idea what's going on here?

returning equipment
I finally figured out how to return the leased CenturyLink router. I previously tried going to the CenturyLink office but they said I should call a special 800 number to have them mail a shipping label to me. So I did that as well as go to the website and find a link that showed they would mail a shipping label to me. About a week passed and still no mailed label in the mail so I find another link on their website that allows label to be printed out via printer so I do that and take box to UPS store to mail. I made copies of everything and have receipt.
Now it loooks like today CenturyLink will get the package. What do I do after, immediately call them and ask for a credit after a day or so? I'm not cancelling, I just don't want to rent equipment from them.

[Qwest] Please Recommend me a modem for line bonded 80/40 VDSL2 service
Line Bonding recently became available in my area, but I need to purchase a new modem in order to take advantage of it.
Instead of paying Centurylink $150 for a new one, I'd prefer to order a used one from somewhere like eBay.
I was looking at the Technicolor C2100T and see they go for about $50. Should I consider something else, or is this a good modem?

Centurylink/Level3 to AT&T Chicago routing is messed up
I've noticed my Overwatch pings went from 20ms to 90ms about a month ago. I think there is something wrong with AT&T and level3 routing
Anything going through level3 is dog slow. Here is the looking glass from Blizzard. Why is blizzard getting routed from Chicago to Atlanta and back?

Long distance to DSLAM - options?
I just moved and CenturyLink (legacy Qwest) is currently the only option at my new house. After a little confusion from the tech (the house has the NID in the basement and it is not visible from the outside), everything is up and working.
CL shipped a C1100Z which is reporting 5.120/0.888 Mbps using VDSL2 on an estimated loop length of 7080 feet with uncanceled echo of "-228" (no units in the UI). This is distance estimation probably a little short of reality; the tech's test device showed about 10,000 feet which is the distance to the remote following the roads.
Downstream has 7.1dB SNR, 13.4 dB Attenuation, and 13.3 dBm Power. Upstream is 6.8dB SNR, 10.8 dB Attenuation, and 10.5 dBm Power. Both are interleaved channels.
Is there any hope of getting better speeds on this line or is this just what I get for moving to a semi-rural area? Even an upstream increase would make things much better, as doing video calls on 0.9Mbs is a little hard.
