A while back I checked in with CT to see what I could get with bonded DSL. I currently can only pull ~6Mbps/0.5Mbps on my single line. They quoted 5Mbps/2Mbps with bonded pair.
I thought it would have been at least 10Mbps bonded. I'm in rural Oregon, about 12 miles east of Lebanon near Lacomb. About 2.1 miles from the RO.
Is there a way to get a local expert engaged with my question at CT? I used to have a tech in town that was very supportive (gave my his direct office number for contact) but he has since retired and they no longer have an office in Lebanon.
I'm tempted to give bonded a shot and see how it works out. Anyone out there with similar experiences?
thanks,

CAF II Speed Requirements
When looking at the speed requirements for CAF II funding the FCC states that the provider must provide 10/1 service. Is CenturyLink really meeting this by providing only 896k upload? I'm asking this because I tried to get bonded 20/2 DSL and the installer only provided single line DSL that ended up being 12/896. I was really kind of disappointed as double the upload speed means a lot to me. Did anyone else have any similar thoughts on this or know of ways to try and get the upload speeds over provisioned a bit? My modem 3000a modem reports an estimated line distance at 3290 so I'd think it could support higher speeds than 12/896. Thanks in advance for your thoughts/suggestions.

New internet service and change to small business
After over 8 years of not being able to get DSL at my house because they had no available bandwidth I decided to check again on Centurylink's website after seeing a new CAF DSL box put right in front of my house (has no power but fiber has been ran to it for over 3 months now). It now says I can order 10/1 Internet for 45.00 a month. I immediately jumped on that and ordered a self-install kit and it says my DSL service will be activated next Friday.
The only problem is that I do not have a line from the telephone box on the street to my house. I build the house 8 years ago in the country and when they said they could not provide DSL I just never ordered telephone service. Will they come out and install the line automatically or will I need to call someone to set this up?
With the new CAF DSL box right in my front yard, should I ask the installer any questions to make sure I am connected to that new box? There are telephone boxes on each side of it that they could install the new line to my house from but obviously I want to be on the side that receives service from the new CAF box in my front yard.
Also, after I ordered service, I found the https://www.centurylink.com/small-business/ site and it says on that site that I can get 20/2 for 60.00 a month. I would gladly pay 15.00 extra per month for double the bandwidth. Is there anyway to change my order or "upgrade" my service after it is installed to the small business service?
Thanks.

Returned modem question?
How soon after you return the cable modem does it usually show up on the bill? or show up off the bill!
I recently returned a modem because I purchased my own and tracking shows they received it 6 days ago.

80/10 to 140/20 questions
It's been a while since I've been to the forums so forgive me if my questions have been answered already. I speak with sales every 6 months to see if I qualify for a speed upgrade. Few years back I was offered 80/10 bonded from 10/2. Now i'm being offered 140/20 bonded for 5$ more than what i'm currently paying, which is a no brainer. But after placing the order I was told I had to get a new modem before service could be upgraded, which was strange since I have a c2100t and I was told that when they originally installed it that it was good for up to around 300mbps. I tried to argue with the guy for a bit, even sending him the spec sheet but he kept insisting that I would need a new modem. So my questions are as follows:
Do I actually need a new modem to qualify for 140/20 or is he just reading from a screen?
Are there any foreseeable issues going to 140/20 from 80/10?
Is there a way to speed up this process? (10/2 to 80/10 took almost a month)

Question on New CL Fiber/DSLAM Upgrades
I'm in rural Clay Co MO west of Kearney, MO. A month or so ago CL ran fiber down our highway and I've been watching the install proceed. The pictures attached show a DSLAM that was put in this week (on the back of the rack). Good news for me is it’s only about 1000 ft. from my house. They are installing these all over in this area looks like this is part of CAF. I currently have 5mbs with CL but rarely see that.
I’m wondering about the size of the rack it’s mounted on. Does this look like they might be allowing for expansion to add more DSLAM’s or something else? Other pictures I’ve seen show single boxes like this just mounted on a post. I also included a close up of the DSLAM.
Thanks,
Rick

[CenturyTel] How do I locate the closest DSLAM
Living in NW Montana and I only have 3Mbps down but I am in a CAFII location with two neighbors that have 10Mbps down. Whenever I call CLINK they tell me I am too far to get better speeds. How do I find a map or more information on my line so I can find the closest switch/DSLAM? I already filed a complaint with the FCC and when I call CLINK business group they tell me they can run fiber to my house for $70K and a 5 year contract... Seems like I should be able to get ADSL2 or something... I am looking for advise on how to check my availability and locate the infrastructure so I can speak intelligently on this... THanks!

SonicWALL keeps getting new IP address
I have configured the SonicWALL like I always have, so here's my setup so far:
C1100Z in modem only mode. The routing and the built in wifi are disabled. -> From here I have a Sonicwall NSA 220 with the latest 5.9.1 firmware that this thing supports -> Apple AirPort Extremes in bridge mode.
What I have noticed is that the SonicWALL will consistently keep getting me a new public IP address. I have the PPPoE info set correctly, and the MTU at 1492. Any suggestions? I know that it is a dynamic IP, but is it supposed to be THIS dynamic where I am getting multiple new IP Addresses after only a few hours?
It is making it close to impossible to set up VPNs the way I want them to, so I hope there is something I can mess with. Speeds are actually good, I read that I can increase the MTU to 1500, but I am on PPPoE, not DHCP, so I read that can mess things up.

Off PRISM... ethernet cable?
Getting off Prism today. There are 2 ethernet cables in the wall behind modem (c2100t). 1 is the WAN and 1 goes into a regular Lan port. Is that the Prism cable? Is it ok to disconnect or will it screw other things, such as internet or phone?

Through circumstance, I have ended up with a C3000Z just like the one installed currently. I live in a building with very unfriendly walls for wifi signals. Can I set my first unit up as a gateway and and use it to connect my pre wired LAN and use the second as a WiFi radio? Would anyone please share the procedure?

CenturyLink Modem Support Page Question
Sadly, CTLTechBoise quit his account, so I didn't get to ask him this question.
Here's my question... so my former ISP, Windstream, has a special "support" page that can be accessed by port 50580. You can see more advanced things using this special web interface, and change things that aren't accessible to the regular admin account.
I was wondering if CenturyLink had the same thing? I'm thinking of buying a centurylink modem to mess around with.

1 gig fiber install!
I was checking the CL website for speeds available to me, sometimes it would show 40mbps and sometimes it would show only 12mbps. So i started checking other houses and the houses that back to my house show they had fiber available with 1 gig speeds.
So i did chat support to see if they could see if there were any plans to expand fiber to my house. the sale rep said according to their system my address was available for ordering on prem fiber with speeds up to 1 gig! So i went ahead and setup the install for next tuesday morning.
anyone know what my chances are that their system was right and the tech will get there and be able to install it? Or am i looking at the tech showing up and saying the system was wrong?

Experiences with newly available CenturyLink fiber in Portland?
I live in North Portland (in the Overlook neighborhood) and until very recently the best CL could offer was DSL at 3 Mbps down, I kid you not. Starting a couple of years ago I'd see their trucks installing fiber lines around the neighborhood, though, and a couple of weeks ago I got a thing hung on my storm door saying CL fiber internet is now available in my neighborhood. It's somewhat academic for now since I'm in a contract with Comcast/Xfinity, but I want to know if it's reliable, how expensive it is, whether there are unreasonable bandwidth caps, etc. Also whether their billing department is a pain to work with.

1 Gig Fiber Questions
Hello!
I recently received an email from CenturyLink stating that 1Gbps fiber is now available in my area. I was thrilled to get this as I have been wanting to dump Cox for a while. I called in to inquire about installation and the rep I spoke to said that only 100mbps service was available to my home. I told the rep I got the email saying the 1Gbps service was available but he insisted it wasn't. What gives? Does CenturyLink post an availability map? If so, I haven't been able to find one yet. Has anyone else had this experience?
