I'm currently getting 80/10 but under the impression I may qualify for faster speeds. How can I verify? I've attached some info from the modem below.

Odd IP address and routing
I have been having issues with my assigned IP addresses. For some reason, Centurylink is assigning me IP addresses that are out in Iowa, Illinois etc. I’m in Western NC. I’ve noticed that my pings are oddly high for a Fiber fed dslam with 80/10 connection. I usually cannot get less than a 50ms ping. I did a trace route and found that it is routing my traffic through Iowa and into North Dakota before leaving the Centurylink network. I also play Call of Duty so the ping issue is pretty frustrating.
This has been troublesome because I use DirectvNow and it won’t let me stream because of geolocation issues. I am forced to use the channel apps to stream. I have an order in for a static IP to hopefully correct for this issue.
Anyone else having similar issues? I have reset my modem many times. I keep getting similar IPS that map in the same area. Thanks.

Fiber cut update.
CL Fiber Cut 10/24/18
Around 9:30 am yesterday I lost all connectivity both the CL ADSL (sync no surf) and the MegaPath fiber went dark, the Canoga Perkins 9145 went into an alarm attempting to notify me of no light but with the ADSL down that didn't fly.
So it was time to open some trouble tickets.
Contacted CL on chat and after about 10 minutes I was advised since I was on GPON chat couldn't assist me and I needed to call an 800 number.
I advised the rep I am on bonded ADSL not GPON and that cause another delay.
At the same time I was chatting with MegaPath and at first they didn't see the circuit down but a bit more testing discovered they couldn't see their router at my office so they dropped a ticket on CL.
CL chat came back advising my service was testing OK and wanted to trouble shoot the router, so I went along with that.
Reboot the router, check.
What lights are on DSL1 solid green DSL 2 solid green, check.
Internet light, alternating red/green, check.
Log into modem please, check.
Connection status, CenturyLink DSL, connected, Internet not connected.
Pause.
Chat drops off.
10:39 AM
At 12:43 PM I get a call from CenturyLink asking me what is going on and can I work with them testing the modem.
Based on her accent she wasn't an American but understandable.
I advise it has been rebooted and DSL 1 and 2 are solid green and Internet is flashing red/green.
Pause.
She comes back, there is an outage in your area it is scheduled to be repaired by 1:28 AM on 10/25/18.
Finally something I can enter into the log and hammer CL with later.
It's just amazing how difficult companies can make solving the obvious.
Anyhow after a section of fiber was replaced and 12 ribbons where spliced service was restored at 6:11 PM 10/24/18.
The longest part of the repair was trying to find a section of 144 fiber, turns out CL doesn't managers stock fiber anywhere nearby, I solved that by commandeering 15 feet of 144 from a nearby (carrier) regen hut.
The guys doing the splicing though that was odd, but appreciated, someone shows up in a plain white van, asks about a cut which they showed me and once I discovered they where scrambling for fiber told them "I'll get you some" and 20 minutes later I pulled the 144 out the back of the van and handed it over.
Probably shaved a few hours off the repair.
Of course then comes the secondary problem, how does one continue working when internet access is required to access the systems I need to test sites, and both the primary and secondary paths are down hard and I live and work too far from the nearest site to get a single bar, if at all?
Simple take a hot spot and a USB charger, wrap it in a plastic bag and shove it up 45 feet into the air, and get 3 bars and 5/1 connectivity. ;-)

Static IP for Fiber
Does anyone have the standard for getting (if you can) a static IP on the GPON 1G? I'm getting conflicting info from CL itself.

Question on New CL Fiber/DSLAM Upgrades
I'm in rural Clay Co MO west of Kearney, MO. A month or so ago CL ran fiber down our highway and I've been watching the install proceed. The pictures attached show a DSLAM that was put in this week (on the back of the rack). Good news for me is it’s only about 1000 ft. from my house. They are installing these all over in this area looks like this is part of CAF. I currently have 5mbs with CL but rarely see that.
I’m wondering about the size of the rack it’s mounted on. Does this look like they might be allowing for expansion to add more DSLAM’s or something else? Other pictures I’ve seen show single boxes like this just mounted on a post. I also included a close up of the DSLAM.
Thanks,
Rick

[Qwest] AZ initial DSL install done, when can I order better service?
My primary question: how long after my install should I wait until I can ask for a higher data rate for my service?
background (and red herrings):
So when I was buying this house CL told me they could provide service to my address. Fortunately, they were correct :D
What I missed during the house inspection is that there has never been service installed - I didn't look for the NID. My fault.
I placed an order, the tech found no drop, and recommended I do my own conduit from my place to the pedestal, and to double check the plan with the local lead engineer. Done and done. (conduit not required, they do direct burial here too, but... tractors etc :P)
About a month after getting the conduit in I finally got my visit from the tech again this week and he pulled the wire and all was connected, and tested well for what the order-taker signed me up for (1.2/.8 I think).
The tech said there are only myself and the neighbor on a 25-pair line we share. Using their address at the CL website they are offered "Up to 10" or "up to 7" Mbps. So I assume we only have copper connections all the way in to the CO. Modem says my line length is a mile (5280 feet), and after 2.5 days it's already bumped the connection up to 2.272 Mbps downstream.
I assume the 10Mbps is bonded, as a tech visit is required. So that is probably better for me (higher upload speed too).
So, back to my question. When can I ask for/order more than I have? Do I wait for the customer website to show my installed service, or do I call in as soon as I want to?

Bonded 25mbit speed now half after wide area outage restored (VA)
So Tuesday (11/20), there was a known area-wide outage in my area with my home phone and 25mbit bonded DSL were affected. Phone line was completely out for 2 days.
Phone line is fixed now, but my DSL speed is about half what it was on Tuesday of this week before the outage. Was getting the full 23-25 before the outage, now only getting 10-13mbit. My Actiontec C1900A syncs at the correct 25mbit bonded speed. So I'm assuming its something else?? I chatted with Centurylink support, but the issue was well above their ability. Any suggestions on how to get help?

[CenturyTel] Options for 3mbps dsl
I have a family member in rural WI that has had Centurylink dsl for sometime. Years ago they had offers to upgrade to 10 mbps internet for $5 more per month but never jumped on it. Now they are told that 3mbps is the max available at their residence and faster speeds are not possible. Are there any avenues they can take to get higher speeds? 3mbps seems extremely slow for max possible speeds..

?Premium modem? and speed upgrade
I currently live in a metro area just west of Denver, paying for a 40mb line and receiving 45-50mb speeds on average. As part of the new “price for life” package CenturyLink states I can upgrade to an 80mb line for the same price as my 40mb line, however I’d need to upgrade to a “premium modem” in order to see better speeds. I’m running a Zyxel C1100Z bridged with the radio off. I’m wondering if another modem would truly provide better speeds than my C1100Z at this point, or if it is giving me the best the line would otherwise have. Looks like C2100T’s get love around here, is that my best option for 80mb if the upgrade is worthwhile?

C3000a
Any idea why a C3000a would generate around 300,000 FEC on each line (no CRC errors) in 40 hours and my C2100t might generate 1000 FEC in the same amount of time? What is the max FEC a user should see on their line before it requires some kind of attention?

C1000A, C1900A, C1000Z PSA
Recently, these three modems have had firmware upgrades pushed to them. Most of them have been fine, but there have been a number of them that are getting stuck in a firmware upgrade loop. This will cause a Train and auth but can't browse. What I've been doing that's working, is a fac reset, push new firmware via the file, then fac reset again. (of course make sure you have your PPPoE username and password or that the modem is associated in ACS). This will clear the firmware upgrade loop I've been seeing.

Experiences with newly available CenturyLink fiber in Portland?
I live in North Portland (in the Overlook neighborhood) and until very recently the best CL could offer was DSL at 3 Mbps down, I kid you not. Starting a couple of years ago I'd see their trucks installing fiber lines around the neighborhood, though, and a couple of weeks ago I got a thing hung on my storm door saying CL fiber internet is now available in my neighborhood. It's somewhat academic for now since I'm in a contract with Comcast/Xfinity, but I want to know if it's reliable, how expensive it is, whether there are unreasonable bandwidth caps, etc. Also whether their billing department is a pain to work with.

Higher upload speeds for 100/10 tier?
So I was looking into getting a higher upload tier with my service from CL outside Denver. I've got bonded 100/10 service. I'm eligible for 80/40, but the rep I chatted with said that 10Mbps was my only option with 100 down. That seems off, especially since I could get the higher upload if I dropped my down speeds. Is there no way to get a higher upload on this without dropping to 80 down?

Netgear ac2400 problem with fiber.
I picked up a Netgear nighthawk ac2400 to see if I could get it working for a friend. I tried it out myself first using PPPoE and vlan 201 tagging and it connects without any problem but is extremely slow. Speed test.net drops drastically and then just hang or errors out with a socket error. Exact same behavior as described here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Connected-to-centurylink-fiber-ONT-extremly-slow-speeds-of-gt/td-p/1463354
ping is fine. No packet loss. Decent latency to just about anywhere. It almost smells like an mtu problem.
Has anyone else experienced something like this with Netgear routers and CenturyLink fiber?
I noticed both the 2400 and 6900v2 from that link are mediatek based. Coincidence?

Just switched week ago so far so good!
Well folks I have been on 100/10meg service for a week as of Saturday and it has been really stable and fast (probably helps I am 150 yards from the CO) funny thing is I am a retiree from Cox but getting really sick of the cost especially since they don't adjust my retirement check. I am running a C3000Z modem that I purchased, it's in transparent mode using opendns for dns! I am in north phoenix AZ area, anything I should expect later on down the road? haven't disconnected Cox yet but really looking forward too.

[Qwest] New box showed up along with a coil of cable
A new Multilink box was installed next to the DSLAM that serves my house. There's also a spool of cable hanging next to it - see the attached photos. Is this a glimmer of hope that I might see FTTH? There's a new condo going up a few blocks away from this - could it just be a new connection for that?

Updated Minneapolis speed test map
I re-ran the addresses contained in the map in this thread: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29723767-Minneapolis-Centurylink-Speed-map-Including-Fiber-rollout-
(Direct link: http://www.easymapmaker.com/map/6347814ae5d946a2fcc4cd60647ca456)
New map from data gathered last night: http://www.easymapmaker.com/map/cl_speed_1-15-2015
So there are now traces of gig internet in Hopkins and St. Paul (uncheck everything but 1000 at the bottom to see them).
I have a python script that runs the addresses to check their speeds, and I hope to update the map from time to time to see the progression of CL fiber.
-----------------------------------------------
Edit 5/11/2016:
Instructions on how to run this yourself using Vagrant, Ansible and VirtualBox:
https://github.com/mtdoyle/CLSpeedPhantomJS/blob/master/README.md
I have included my giant list of addresses that will be downloaded as part of the instructions above.
Let me know if anything doesn't work!
NOTE: running this script with a large amount of addresses takes a LOT of bandwidth. Each run for me eats up somewhere between 20-40Gb of data. If your internet is capped, you might want to only use a smaller subset of addresses.

Bonded DSL installed but speeds are not faster
Centurylink upgraded me to a Bonded service but I am only getting speeds of about 10mb when they advised I would be getting 25. This is checked by using Speedtest and from Centurylink website. It doesn't matter if it is connected by Ethernet cord or wifi.
The modem status is showing a Downstream Rate of 26.417 Mbps.
DSL line 1 is DSL Downstream Rate of 11.702 Mbps. DSL line Status: Poor
DSL line 2 is DSL Downstream Rate of 14.715 Mbps DSL line Status: Good
Modem/router is Zyxel C3000Z.
Any ideas on what is causing me to show such slow speeds on a speed check but the modem is showing the higher speed?
TIA
