[CenturyTel] I actually feel sorry for this company!

Well, I wrote about 1/2 a chapter about my attempt to get service to my address but then re-read it before I submitted it and after reading it I kind of felt like the guy making fun the retarded guy (Challenged person). I just hung my head and said to myself "well he sure tried" I truly-truly feel so sorry for the people that have to subscribe to this company, I have never written anything bad about a company but just don't get how this company is still in business? it is so polluted at every level that I had to engage with that I can only wish the best for every single employee and hope that they realize the are worth so much more and can do so much better than work for such a dysfunctional company. Customers, you too need to think about your life choices and evaluate if even having this service is worth your sanity (even the people without a choice) How can you even stay as a customer and feel good about yourself REALLY? I am in severe shock. DSLReports thank you for allow me a place to vent! I do have to say I was warned by more that 10 - 12 people that considering them for service is not a good idea but I just could not grasp that it could be this broken! I just put in an order for 1 meg down and no upload possible through the "North Korean People's Telephone And Glory Be To Kim Jong Inventor Of The Internet and Beautiful Glory Of Korea" company. AKA the "nkptagtkjotiabgok". as a bonus they said I could pay by working in the fields for 15 hours a day or get a free Centurylink $50.00 Gift Card bet you know which one I took! Wish I would have known about this "nkptagtkjotiabgok" company before I tried CenturyStink! Respectfully submitted, -Everyone

Looking at this link, ( http://www.centurylink.com/home/help/internet/modems-and-routers/what-modems-are-compatible-with-centurylink.html ) Wondering if it is up to date and if these two units are available yet or if not, does anyone know a release date for them? [Qwest] Much higher upload speeds apparently possible, but not offered?

I currently have 40/20 bonded DSL service which is over-provisioned to 43.6/21.8, and it has been working great for over a year now. But I just noticed something interesting. According to the modem (I have a Technicolor C2000T), the first line could sync at 79/44, and the second line could run at 67/53, which means the two lines together could do 143 Mbps downstream and 97 Mbps upstream. From my experience, the maximum rates that the modem reports are reasonably accurate, because when I had 40/5 single-pair service several years ago, the modem reported 46/10 as the max rate, and it could do 46/5 with an SNR of 6db with no problems. However, according to CenturyLink, the speeds I can get are 20/5, 40/20, and 120/10. There used to be an option for 60/30, but I don't see that option now. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a faster upload? Here is what the modem reports: > xdslctl0 info --vectoring xdslctl0: ADSL driver and PHY status Status: Showtime Last Retrain Reason: 0 Last initialization procedure status: 0 Max: Upstream rate = 44287 Kbps, Downstream rate = 79245 Kbps Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 10911 Kbps, Downstream rate = 21823 Kbps Bearer: 1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps Vectoring state: 3 VCE MAC Address: 1:0:5e:33:44:88 Total error samples Ethernet pkts sent: 12092 Total error samples Ethernet pkts discarded: 0 Total error samples statuses sent: 12092 Total error samples statuses discarded: 0 > xdslctl1 info --vectoring xdslctl1: ADSL driver and PHY status Status: Showtime Last Retrain Reason: 0 Last initialization procedure status: 0 Max: Upstream rate = 52947 Kbps, Downstream rate = 67576 Kbps Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 10911 Kbps, Downstream rate = 21823 Kbps Bearer: 1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps Vectoring state: 1 VCE MAC Address: 1:0:5e:33:44:88 Total error samples Ethernet pkts sent: 12399 Total error samples Ethernet pkts discarded: 0 Total error samples statuses sent: 12399 Total error samples statuses discarded: 0

ADSL2 lines stats, can someone advise?

I currently have bonded ADSL2 service of 25/2. I noticed today my DSL1 line stats seem really good. The DSL2 line stats are not as great. I'm wondering if someone that knows what these numbers mean believes I would be able to get better internet on a single VDSL2 line using this line. Centurylink of course states I am at the highest speed available...

Outage Map?

My brother lives a county north of me and he's been without internet for over 24 hours (he has CenturyLink DSL). He asked if there was a such thing as an outage map similar to the way our power provider has. He's aware of ERIC, but that's typically days after the fact.

I've found today that packets destined for 1.1.1.1 never leave CL's network. 1.0.0.1 works fine. This issue seems to have cropped up just this afternoon, and CL won't even investigate the issue. Can I control overall speeds with Centurylink's Zyxel C1100z

$

Hey, I've had Centurylink for a couple of years and they have been promising this "amazing" upgrade that would bring us to 40/5 for over a year now. Well, 2 missed deadlines later and no more talk about the "upgrade" since, I'm finally sick of this shitty service but since it's the only provider here I need some help. I am wanting to know if it is possible to limit my upload/download speeds overall. Whenever my speeds hit max or close to it my ping shoots into the 200-300s and makes playing games not a possibility. My speeds are only 9.439down/0.895up Mbps Is it possible to do this with the Zyxel C1100Z?

Poor line quality

First the pictures, the first is the most recent, second is from yesterday, third and forth are from a couple days ago. Had CenturyLink set up about a week and a half ago and the first day it was okay(as much as I could tell) but after that there were tons of retrains, one day I had around 50. Had a tech come out a couple days ago and he said the problem was on the house side of the line. I replaced the cat3 cable with a new cat5e. The line is run in the crawlspace of the house, no electronics around it. Basically I'm wondering if I should worry about the most recent stats, or if that's just what I'll have to deal with. Before I replaced the cat3, you can see the connection was absolute trash, so upgrading the line definitely helped. Yesterday after replacing the cable the status was good for probably 6 hours, then slowly degraded to poor. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

My elderly father has just moved and can't find the power supply for his ActionTec Q1000 modem. Quest said to buy a whole new modem. I can't find any info on this modem on the ActionTec web site to determine what power supply to buy. Would someone please give me the specs for the power supply for this modem. Tip positive or negative, voltage and amps, skinny barrel or larger barrel connector, etc. so I can tell him what to buy. Thanks

Basically the title. Most of the big players seem to be wearing their big boy pants and participating, but CL is notably absent. Did they ever try before? What happened?

New problem with dropped connection

Hi all, I've had the 60 Mbps plan for about a year, without any issues. I have no phone service, only DSL. As of a week ago, I will lose service sometimes for hours and other times for a few minutes. My downstream SNR is really low, I think, but I don't really know what that means in context with my other stats. The interesting thing is that the status page will say DSL connected, but internet not connected. When this happens the SNR drops. To 0. Could this be my modem? I would like to have some notion of what might be going on, before I slug it out with a repair. Thanks in advance.

Centurylink has impressed me lately

I was one of the unfortunate 1.5mbps users. It was unusable. I made it on an unlimited Verizon aircard for about a year. Then they ran new fiber to my area and offered me 40/5. They ran a whole new drop to my house which is around 1200’ for free. During this time I did have some trouble with YouTube staying low def. I found that if I switched my DNS google servers it helped and later to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 the problem went away completely. I had service for around 44$ a month. Recently my promotions dropped. I called and asked they be put back on. They offered me their pricing for life 40/5 for 55$. I took the deal. I called the local store and asked about their bonding service. Turns out the 55$ price window covers all speeds from 40-80mbps. I requested their bonding service. They came out today and I’m happy to report I’m getting 83/10. I am getting that for the same 55$ price and had to pay for the 60$ tech fee. No big deal! I was fortunate and had a modem that was bonding ready. Anyways, I know there is a lot of hate on this forum about Centurylink and I used to be one of them, but I am impressed with the improvements they have made over the last year and a half.

WiFi slower than expected

Just switched from Comcast to CenturyLink VDSL2 bonded. I have an Asus RT-AC68U router (stock firmware) that was connected to the cable modem. Comcast service was 55 down/5 up. Speed tests over wifi were showing 60-65 down and 6-7 up. Now I have the Asus taking care of PPPOE and connected to the Actiontec C1900A which is in bridge mode untagged (wifi is off). Speeds are supposed to be 80/10. Over ethernet I get 78-80 down and 9-10 up so I know I'm getting advertised speeds. However, when I connect via wifi and run a speed test I get anywhere from 25-60 down and 9-10 up. I would normally chalk this up to interference but Comcast was consistently showing advertised speeds over wifi. Plus the upload speeds over ethernet and wifi stay around 9-10 so I'd expect it to be lower if it was interference related. It's just the download speeds that are so far off. The only thing that has changed is the router handling PPPOE. Is this expected behavior or is there some way to get better speeds over wifi?

convert from business to residential

Hey all. I currently have two 40/2 bonded connections under a business account. What do you think my chances are of getting them converted to residential to save cost? also, am in a CAFII area and also don't want them to take them away from me, as I am hearing bonded connections in CAF II areas are no longer allowed. Weird.

[Qwest] Pair Bonded bridging?

Hello, I spoke with a CL tech last night (w/16years exp) because I want to bridge my connection. I was told it will not work unless I have a router that can handle a Pair Bonded connection. Is this true? The Modem is an Actiontec C1900A - my router (Brand New) is a Linksys WRT3200ACM. Please advise. Thanks, Ron
