Hello!
I have a centurylink Actiontec C1000A modem/router that was terrible and continuously dropped wireless signal, and so I purchased a TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750 to act as the router and to handle wireless functioning. I set the C1000A to transparent bridge mode, entered the PPP credentials into the AC1750 and this configuration worked flawlessly for about 1 week. Then 2 days ago, my internet began dropping every 20-45 minutes, with the windows troubleshooter giving me the message "DNS server not responding". I can regain access to the internet by powercycling the modem and then it craps out on me 20-45 minutes later. I called CenturyLink and they sent a tech yesterday, who replaced the modem. I hooked it up and turned it back into a transparent bridge as I had before. The problem immediately re-occurred with the 20-45 minute until need to powercycle the modem.
From what I gather, I need to do something. Some of your posts indicate manually setting the DNS on each modem and router to prevent conflicts, but I cannot get into my modem's GUI any longer, even after a hard reset of it. Should I give up on the TP-Link router?
Any advice you can give is incredibly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
