I've been a CenturyLink customer for about 10 years now, and I think I've about hit my limit for how much longer I'm going to wait for them to upgrade. I'm currently at 3 meg down, .5 up, same speed I've been at for 10 years now (about 20 minutes southwest of KC). I've tried calling Centurylink, I've tried chatting with them online, I've tried their answer service, and not once have I ever gotten an answer on whether my area is going to be upgraded ever.
So I'm asking the community if they know anything about the Eastern Kansas area and possible upgrades happening. The 3 meg wasn't really too bad of an issue until the Xbox One/Ipad/Iphone came out and started downloading patches all the time, which basically flatlines everyone else in the house randomly when it occurs. My wife is also trying to stream her shows and is constantly having issues with watching 1/2 the show then some device (phone, ipad, computer, etc) starts updating and killing her show, a very frustration thing for her (and in turn for me, who has to try and fix it all the time).
If there are no plans for upgrades, I've heard that possibly AT&T has an unlimited wireless plan that might work? Cost is not an object here, we're already paying $85 for our current centurylink connection (it's combined with home phone which we never use...we were going to drop the phone but I was told by their representative that the DSL would go up just as much as the bundle was saving us, so no point).
Thanks for any information you have. A very frustrated user here, lol.
