Hello everyone,
I recently moved and since then the service in the new apartment is very disappointing. Here is my setup:
Original:
wall port -- C1000Z DSL modem -- Asus RT-N66U wireless router -- PC/laptops/phone/etc.
Now:
wall port -- Netgear DM111PSP DSL modem - Asus RT-N66U wireless router -- PC/laptops/phone.etc.
I first noticed this while attempting to reinstall World of Warcraft on my PC. Every so often the download rate would drop to 0 for a bit. I also noticed when I would try to access anything else on the Internet it would say I was disconnected. My PC is connected via RJ-45 cable so this is not a wireless issue. However, *all* devices whether wired or wireless would be unable to access the Internet for a while.
So, my CCNP trained self began to do some troubleshooting. Here is what I've done so far:
1. Pulled my router out of the equation and connected my PC directly to the DSL modem.
2. Tried another DSL modem, hence the Netgear that I'm currently using now.
3. Swapped out the patch cable between my modem and PC.
4. Swapped out the RJ-11 cable between the DSL modem and wall port.
5. Tried a different wall port.
During the issue my ability to ping the default-gateway on the CenturyLink side stops. I basically cannot get out to the Internet at all when this disconnect happens. This tells me something is going on with their side of my connection. I should add with the exact same equipment at my old apartment across town I never had issues such as this.
Any tips on what to do next? I'm going to hop into the support realm here and start jumping through their hops but maybe someone can point out something I might have missed.
Thanks!
