After several years on CenturyLink VDSL2 40/20 Mb/s service, I've recently cancelled my account and moved back to Comcast.
Can't say anything too negative about the CenturyLink experience, since the service was rock solid, and I never had a billing issue. Pricing was creeping up recently due to new fees and increased monthly rates, but that's the case with pretty much every provider, and wasn't the only catalyst for the switch.
The primary reason for the switch is that Comcast recently doubled their speed tiers, and I can now get 105/10 Mb/s service at a reasonable price. For the first year it's half of what I was paying CenturyLink, and once the promotion expires, it will still be a few dollars cheaper.
CenturyLink has been running a lot of ads on TV lately touting Denver as a "Gigabit City," but their fiber to the premise deployment is still only a reality in tiny pockets of town. If fiber comes to my house before Comcast deploys DOCSIS 3.1 and offers Gig service themselves, I'll be a returning customer. For now, Comcast once again has the better performance/cost ratio.
I'll still be keeping tabs on the developments from the sidelines, and wish everyone speedy downloads and stable service!
