Im in the Phoenix, AZ metro area and wanted to sign up for Prism now that its available in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, its turning into a nightmare and I cancelled my order.
It started when a Prism area manager came to my house. I was all set to order, but ran into a snag on my internet line speed. My house is supposedly provisioned for 40/20 internet. I currently have 20mbps service. But then his person on the other end came back and said 20/12 is the max. Therefore, my internet speed would drop to 12mbps service with Prism.
This is not acceptable to me.
This struck me as odd since I can upgrade to 40mbps when I log into my CenturyLink account. Its right there on the front page. So I called the Prism number, they double-checked and said I was good to go and could keep my 20mbps service.
I signed up. After subsequent frustrations with CenturyLink (a long story), I cancelled. Funny enough, the day after I received an order confirmation that plainly stated I would get the 12mbps service (and not keep my 20mbps service as I was told).
Here are my questions:
1. How can I confirm what speeds are available at my house? If I call tech support, what do I need to specifically say to avoid any confusion?
2. Is 12mbps service the max internet speed Prism supports?
3. While not related to speed, is there anyone here who signed up recently for Prism in the Phoenix area who got the two-year price lock? Thats another area of contention.
Thanks!
