[CenturyTel] Getting 6% Packet loss after "Upgrading" to ActionTec modem

Hello! For the past 3-4 months the quality of my connection was superb, no packet loss, no disconnections, low ping, etc. Everything was perfect.. However, we were paying quite a bit so we recently changed plans and were upgraded to a 2 year contract for 12 Mbps. We were on 6 Mbps for a long time and it was actually getting very close to it all the time (around 560kbits) but once we were upgraded, first thing I noticed was that we were only getting 8Mbps on the router page, sometimes it went down to 6.6Mbps (Here I'm still using a westell modem). They said it would take some time for the plan to kick in, so we waited for 3 weeks and nothing. They said it was probably the router/modem and we just got got our ActionTec modem and our download speeds are still at 8Mbps (according to router home page), speed tests only get me 1MB download (server 30-40 miles away from me). Worst of all, I'm now getting 6% packet loss... it's not constant, it happens in little spikes. It really screws up Streaming and Gaming, you are fine for a little bit then it just lags/buffers for a couple of seconds. It's really frustrating, especially when you are playing games that are decided in a split of a second. I did not have this problem before with my Westell modem (which is probably deactivated now, because I activated this new one today) and we are still getting a 33% less of what we are paying for.
