My business uses a dedicated centurylink dsl modem to process credit cards that is on for about 14 hours each day. There are no other devices hooked up to the modem other than a single Ingenico credit card machine and the modem is provided by centurylink. Lately the credit card machine has been processing very slowly so I hooked up a PC via ethernet and started watching. In a 14 hour period today there were over 2 million requests to motive.com. Can anyone tell me what clink.motive.com is and why the modem would contact that site over 150,000 times per hour? The IT department at Bank of Omaha scoped the line and watched the credit card machine when no credit cards were being processed and verified it is the modem making these requests not their machine and verified when a card is processed the only place the machine contacts is amazonaws, which is correct according to them.
