I returned to CL after 1gb fiber went live in our neighborhood. I've had a number of challenging experiences with CL in that past, so I was keen to not give them any more of my money. That said, my US Internet fiber install was completed and activated about 2 weeks ago and I've been running on it since.
It seems to be solid and fast. While supposedly 1GB service, I'm noticing lower results on speed tests as compared to my CL fiber--I suspect that's because of limitations on my Netgear R7500v2 router. I used to use the Netgear behind the C3000Z, allowing the former to handle the local network and the latter to serve up the internet. Yeah, I know--not the best set-up but it worked fine.
That said, I'm wondering if I should use a similar configuration and stick the C3000Z back in front? I won't need to login anymore, so I can turn that off, but theoretically it has a faster brand band throughput on the WAN port compared to my Netgear. Is there better firmware I can put on it to replace the CL firmware? Or, should I just box it up and keep it handy in case I ever need to move back to CL? Or just sell it off?
