I noticed today (November 02, 2019) that my ZyXEL C3000Z had new firmware available: version CZD005-4.16.011.0. I was not able to find a changelog or any information about the update. This is the second firmware update (the first was available after my FTTP Gigabit service was installed 1 1/2 years ago in Seattle) for my ZyXEL C3000Z, so I was happy to install it. As before, the installation was very easy.
Even though the downloaded file is a .bin file, I opened it with less (I use Linux), and I noticed this:
internalversion=1.00(ABHZ.0)b18;
externalversion=CZD005-4.16.011.0;
builddate=10/18/2018;
buildtime=18:01:02;
MSCFE_VER_MAJ=1;
MSCFE_VER_MIN=9;
MSCFE_VER_ECO=0;
ImageChecksum=B59582A7;
RootfsChecksum=EF0F77F4;
KernelChecksum=5D6DA464;
which seems weird/erroneous because the build date seems to be more than one year ago. Did I really go that long without checking for a firmware update? That seems unlikely to me.
Is there a way for an end user to find a changelog or its equivalent for CenturyLink router/modem firmware updates?
At any rate, I am happy that the ZyXEL C3000Z has a firmware update after all this time.
Edit: corrected when my FTTP service was installed.
