Seeking modem recommendations for parents with Netgear R7000

Location: Seattle, WA Okay, so the parental units (for whom I am "tech support") have the basic, no-frills DSL with CenturyLink (originally from Qwest before they were assimilated): 1.5Mbps down, 896Kbps up when the DSL universe smiles upon them. I set things up for them back in the Qwest days with a Zoom 5760 in bridge mode and a Linksys WRT54G router. About three months ago, their venerated Linksys started dropping the connection on a regular basis, and I replaced it with a Netgear AC1900 model R7000 router--overkill for what they actually need, but I wanted something rock-solid, with regular firmware updates and some future-proofing. (Using the same router with my Netgear CM600.) Fast-forward to this month. The plucky little modem looks like its AC power port is starting to fail--when it loses power, a gentle twist of the cord connector will usually get it back in business (the AC cord itself looks to be intact and in good condition). However, the connector seems to be slipping out of contact fairly often nowadays, and Mom relies more and more on the Interwebs to do her banking and e-mail, so panic ensues when there's no connection. Since Zoom, alas, no longer makes that modem, I needs must find an alternative for a replacement. I'd like something as plug-it-in-set-it-up-and-have-it-work-without-fuss as possible, and was considering the Netgear DM111PSP (https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/dsl-modems-routers/DM111PSP.aspx#tab-techspecs), however, there don't seem to be too many of these left available new. And since I'd have to go in and set it into bridge mode as it is, I'm wondering if a different brand and/or model would be a better choice. From my preliminary searching, it seems like DSL hardware is becoming more difficult to find, becoming eclipsed by cable. Any suggestions/reflections would be appreciated. The hour is late where I am, and I have been staring at too many webpages. May soft kitties purr you to your rest -- -- KingCheetah
