I have been having issues with my assigned IP addresses. For some reason, Centurylink is assigning me IP addresses that are out in Iowa, Illinois etc. I’m in Western NC. I’ve noticed that my pings are oddly high for a Fiber fed dslam with 80/10 connection. I usually cannot get less than a 50ms ping. I did a trace route and found that it is routing my traffic through Iowa and into North Dakota before leaving the Centurylink network. I also play Call of Duty so the ping issue is pretty frustrating.
This has been troublesome because I use DirectvNow and it won’t let me stream because of geolocation issues. I am forced to use the channel apps to stream. I have an order in for a static IP to hopefully correct for this issue.
Anyone else having similar issues? I have reset my modem many times. I keep getting similar IPS that map in the same area. Thanks.
