Hello,
1) I just got FTTH Gigabit with Century Link today, after being tired of Comcast's high priced gigabit that I started to need to pay $50 for no data cap. Love the price, but I am seeing a huge difference between what speed DSLReports is giving me, and Ookla Speedtest is giving me.
I've attached both of the results. Is this normal?
2) I also talked to the installer about not wanting their "modem" (as he called it), as I read up on it being just a router. My Linksys has PPPoE and VLAN, so I wanted to use that, but he insisted I had to use their modem. So he installed it and then connected the router to it as well. After he left, I disconnected the CL ROUTER, put mine on, made a few changes in settings, done. I then go the the Century Link office we have here to return their router. He tells me I have to mail it and gave me a shipping slip, saying my tracking slip will be my proof. I was pretty upset. Could always go into Comcast's service centers and just switch stuff out.
Going to chat with them and make sure they know how things played out so I don't get billed for renting their router. Anyone have experience returning CL their equipment and still being charged? If so, what do you do?
Thank you!
