Someone just came to my door (southeast unincorporated King County, zip code 98042, near Kent/Covington/Maple Valley/Black Diamond) and told my wife that CenturyLink has installed "100Mbps FiOS" (more likely VDSL2 from what I can tell?) in my neighborhood, and that they are offering it for $40/month.
CenturyLink's web site says they only have 1.5Mbit and 7Mbit DSL available at my address, so I find this confusing. In fact, their web site doesn't mention anything above 40Mbps for anybody - let alone 100Mbps.
I currently have Comcast 50Mbps service, which works fine, but they just raised rates again so it's good to consider my options.
Does anyone have experience with CenturyLink "FiOS" in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area? Does anyone know why someone would come to my door to tell me about it, while their website shows no mention of it?
Apparently he told my wife that the reason he was going door-to-door bugging everyone at dinner time was because "nobody knows about this service". Well they shouldn't be surprised when they don't advertise it anywhere!
