I am trying to get "broadband" installed at my house, and unfortunately Comcast will not extend the line from my neighbors house (about a 400' distance) leaving me with the only options of satellite, or 1.5MB DSL. Neither of which are particularly appealing!
I am sure that the 1.5MB speed will be if I am the only person on the internet at that time of day. However, assuming I actually get somewhere around 1.5MB, is it going to be fast enough for telecommuting?
I am pretty sure that online gaming, and potentially video streaming are going to be out of the question. I contacted CenturyLink to ask if they were looking to upgrade this area, but the rep I spoke to did not know (understandable, I did not expect the customer service rep to realistically know anyway).
I don't really want to go with satellite due to weather conditions, lag delays, and the monthly caps they have on the service. But, may be forced to go that route if 1.5MB is not fast enough.
So, for anyone with CenturyLink 1.5MB, what is it fast enough for?
Thanks.
