I upgraded from single line 40/5(trained at 50/5-old Qwest area) a couple of months ago to pair bonded 80/10. My SNR was 17 down and 16 up. I then upgraded a couple of weeks ago to 100/10. During this upgrade my download SNR has dropped down to 11. The old modem said I was 1660 feet away. The new Technicolor says I'm 5500 feet away. Centurylink says I'm 2200 feet away. My attenuation is in the 17.4 to 17.8 range. I am in a 10 year old house with cat5e ran throughout when I built it.
Is it normal for the SNR to drop that much going from 80 to 100 meg? After speaking with tech support they said my line can handle about 68 meg down and 20 up per line. I am wanting to know if there is a way to get the 120/20 as tech support says my lines would support it but I would have to get sales to approve it. If the computer says I can only get 100 down, is it possible to get an override? I would like to get the higher upload if possible since its the same price. I had a tech come out last week to clean up the Nid a bit as I cancelled land line service. Appreciate any thoughts.
