Several days ago a webpage appeared from CenturyLink in my broswer. It stated that CL is upgrading its High-Speed Internet service in our neighborhood around April 13th. It said I needed to contact them to validate my modem's compatibility with the upgrade. It then showed my current modem details, which included Modem Model # (Actiontec Q1000) and Modem firmware (QAQ002-31.20L.4)
It said to resolve the issue I can either chat with technical support or call them. It said if my modem is not compatible that a new modem would be provided free of charge. It also stated that if by April 3rd they cannot verify our modem has been upgraded we will receive another similar notification. The message also said if by the day of upgrade we are not compatible our internet will be shutoff.
I immediately called tech support and they had no idea what I was talking about. I explained the message and after checking with their supervisor they advised me I don't have to do anything and my modem is compatible.
Today, on April 3rd, my wife said a similar message appeared on her web browser. Also threatening shutoff. If my modem is compatible with this upgrade why do I keep seeing this message? I did change the admin password on the modem and only use it in transparent bridging mode. I don't know if that has anything to do with why we keep receiving these messages.
Does anyone know what is going on here? We currently have 50/5 service and under modem stats it says Multimode/VDSL2-8A. For what it is worth, a couple of weeks ago our internet was out for most of the day and there were several CL and contractor trucks by the main DSL (DSLAM?) box down the street.
Here is a printout of our modem/connection stats. Are these pretty normal?
