Hello all -
I am pulling my hair out on this one and have come to a dead end. I'm hoping someone here can help.
I have Centurylink with a Zyxel C1100Z modem. The service and router have worked fine for a year now. Recently, however, there are a few devices (mainly 2 ipads and a new Nexus 6P phone) that randomly will not be able to join the wireless network. Instead, they will get an error message that says "Unable to Join 'Nameofwifinetwork'". I say it's random because this happens about 95% of the time for these devices specifically, but they will work some times. Other devices (such as my iPhone), sometimes have this problem as well, but it happens much less frequently. Even other devices on the network never seem to have this issue.
Some facts:
- Some devices seem to always have the problem, while other devices work just fine (simultaneously)
- This is not an issue with the Internet - as anything hard-wired works fine
- I'm certain that the password is being entered correctly on these non-working devices
- We recently installed a bunch of Smart Switches (a total of 8 or so) throughout the house... This is (maybe coincidentally?) about when the issues started to occur
- Resetting the router back to original factory settings fixed the issue, but after setting all of the smart switches back up, things stopped working a few hours later
- There are a probably a total of no more than 20 devices accessing the wifi
- I just did a test where I changed the SSID of the network (which caused all devices to need to reconnect). The first devices I had connect to the network were the ones that were having problems before the change in SSID. These devices connected immediately without problems.
So, my problems seem to occur when having all of my devices set up at the same time, but I don't think I'm hitting a max device threshold or anything like that. I have run out of ideas. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
