I am having 1000mb service installed at my house in Wake Forest, NC. As far as I know the house only currently has phone and cable service. I will be doing DirecTV and fiber. If I recall correctly, there is maybe Cat 3 or 5 in the house but it is spliced (at least in the attic) with those old splicer things that used to be popular for adding another jack. I am wondering how to wire the house so the install goes quickly.
I know where I want to put the modem/router. I don't think there is existing wiring in that location. Would I just do a home run Cat 6 to that location from the NID on the side of the house and wire it for ethernet? Or is there something else involved with the fiber install?
