I recently put a service call, to have a CenturyLink Tech come out and check my DSL Line. I've been having problems with line resyc issues. My SNR is always below 12db. During the daytime hours it's between 6 to 9 db. When the SNR gets that bad my modem will lower it's training speed. Just to stay under 10db.
Beside the line issues. I do have a AM radio station site near me. That is full power during the day. And on reduced power at night. That a trade off I have to work with. The CL tech said not much can be done about the AM Radio interference. In my current ADSL configuration.
So next the CL tech went out and did a complete line check on the following locations. First my NID box at home which has a home run filter already installed. Then Pedestal (Ped Box) about 30 to 50 feet away. And finally Distribution Cabinet (DC Box) that service my neighborhood.
The CL tech took a meter reading at all three locations. And found that Attenuation and SNR signals did not change much. So next the CL tech decided to check other wiring pairs at Ped Box and DC Box. To see if any unused pair of wires might be in better condition. Then the pair I was currently using.
The CL tech did find some pair wiring that had better meter reading at Ped Box and DC Box. And proceeded changed my wiring over to a better pair. CL tech then come back to my NID to see new line meter reading.
There was some improvement to the line quality. But still my Attenuation and SNR signal did not change much. So now CL tech told me the only place left. Is to make changes at the DSLAM Port. The port as it turns out is housed out of my local central office over a mile away.
Now I have to wait and see if any port changes are going to be made. I've been on the same port since 2002. Yes that is the old ATM mod. I should be at ADSL2+ mode by now.
Listed below are the before and after line stats. When the CL tech change out my wiring pair.
