So I am currently on Centurylink's 1.5Mbit pure broadband package. Which means I pay $60 for a sync rate of 1472/288 and my phone can't make outbound calls other than 911. Back when I had phone and internet it came out above $100. Anyway I started browsing through the bill, which is always fun and helps me to calm down, when I came across the services that "pure broadband" includes.
"The Pure Broadband Package includes the following services: High Speed Internet, a telephone line, 911 service, Outbound Call Block, Toll Restriction, Subscriber Line Charge, and non-published number."
That last part is key "non-published number". Well, below that definition is a notice that non-published numbers will be going up a dollar Effective May 12, 2015. I in no way want a land line or any non-dsl services yet I still have to pay for these services plus the phone taxes just to have "pure broadband". I don't even want the 911 service. But there is no way around this as far as I can tell. And while technically this is a rate hike, I consider this nothing more than a hidden fee since I need it to get internet, and it does not tell you individual prices for each "service". This is a one time rate hike notice before it gets hidden under the description of basic/other services.
