So I had CenturyLink back in the day after they refused for many years to upgrade my area, so I went with the cable company and was very pleased. Over the past few months I noticed them putting fiber down the streets.
I asked the local tech what this was for and was told it is Fiber from node to node then copper to the house. I said oh so still too cheap to run fiber to their houses even though you are going through all their yards by doing this. The tech told me service orders are service orders.
So one night I went out in my yard and dig and cut through the copper line in three different spots from my node to house of course which was dead since I was on cable.
Placed order with CenturyLink the tech came out to install and said well we are retiring copper in this area your line appears to have damage so we are going to have to put you on fiber to the house. Hope you don't mind, oh no sir surely won't mind.
So to you all out there, there is one loophole to get fiber to the house just dont get caught "cutting your grass". :)
