[CenturyTel] Westell 7500 + bridge mode + AirPort Time Capsule working for you?

I just got a new Mac + a 3TB Airport Time Capsule. I'm on CenturyLink DSL and have one of their Westell 7500s (A90-75002207) modem/routers. I haven't been happy with the wifi service from that box so I wanted to disable its wifi and use Time Capsule's. I figured this would just mean disabling wireless on the 7500, configuring it into bridge mode, and then having Time Capsule do DHCP + NAT. Parts 1 and 2 I managed fine. Verified that bridge mode was working using a direct Ethernet connection between the 7500 and my Mac, Internet connection fine, ifconfig showing that my Mac's IP address was the former WAN IP on embarqhsd.net. Then I plugged Time Capsule into the 7500, connected my Mac to it via Ethernet, and fired up AirPort Utility to set everything up. And absolutely could not get Time Capsule to work as a network router. It started out in bridge mode, passing the WAN IP to my Mac. So I set "Network - DHCP and NAT". AirPort Utility complained about Double NAT, even though the 7500 was in bridge mode. I entered "Ignore" to make the complaint go away, but couldn't manage to get wi-fi devices to connect to the Internet via Time Capsule. Eventually I gave up, reset the 7500 to routed mode, and went back through the whole Time Capsule configuration, once again getting the Double NAT complaint & hitting "ignore". Finally that resulted in a working wi-fi router that my devices are able to use to connect to the Internet. What puzzles me is why Time Capsule failed with the 7500 in bridge mode. I'd be willing to give it one more try if anyone else out there has managed to get this setup working.
